PUPPY
CITY - LARGE BREEDS
DIRECTIONS
718-332-3400
They
have been invaluable assets to man throughout the ages. The Doberman
Pinscher, German Shepard and Rottweiler are included in this Group,
to name just a few. Quick to learn, these intelligent, capable animals
make solid companions. Their considerable dimensions and strength alone,
however, make many working dogs unsuitable as pets for average families.
And again, by virtue of their size alone, these dogs must be properly
trained.
Akita
Large,
powerful, alert, with much substance and heavy bone. The broad head,
forming a blunt triangle, with deep muzzle, small eyes and erect
ears carried forward in line with back of neck, is characteristic
of the breed. The large, curled tail, balancing the broad head,
is also characteristic of the breed. Alert and responsive, dignified
and courageous. Aggressive toward other dogs.

|
Bloodhound
The
Bloodhound is a large dog and strong. His owner must be prepared
to handle him with both respect and discipline. He is also one of
the kindest and gentlest of all dogs. Bloodhounds are intelligent
and want to please. |
|
Bull
Mastiff
The
Bullmastiff is a levelheaded, steady dog. He gets along well with
other family pets and loves children. He is brave and protective.
He saves his deep bark for really important matters. He is large
and strong, so early obedience training is a must. As a puppy, his
chewing needs are big too. |
|
Chow
The fuzzy, adorable Chow Chow puppy
becomes a powerful and independent dog in a few short months. The
Chow is highly intelligent and extremely loyal to his owner, but
is for an experienced dog owner. He is serious, dignified, and proud.
|
|
Collie
Collies
are smart dogs with natural herding and protecting abilities. Like
all working dogs, Collies need organized activities to thrive. Trained
with a gentle, loving hand, they will learn quickly and happily.
They are active, proud, and cautious. The Collie will be content
in the country or city, as long as he has family companionship.
|
|
Dalmatian
The
Dalmatian is a well-behaved gentleman, but needs plenty of exercise.
He loves to jog for miles alongside his owner. He is reliably polite
with strangers, but also a good watchdog. His love and devotion
to his owners are boundless.
|
|
Doberman
Pinscher
Doberman
Pinschers combine a graceful appearance with a sharp intelligence.
These are strong, quick-thinking dogs who have always served people
as guardians & companions. Their ability to respond immediately
to danger has made them one of the most reliable of all dogs.

|
German
Shepard
For nobility of character, purpose, and appearance,
few animals can surpass the German Shepherd Dog. This breed's courage,
steadfast heart, and keen senses have endeared him to mankind. They
make wonderful companions. He is active, but dignified, and will
delight in joining you in fishing, swimming, or hiking. He's very
fond of children once he gets to know them. |
|
Golden
Retriever
Goldens are easy to
train and strong, but their most outstanding trait is character.
They are outgoing and devoted companions to all sorts of people,
happy and trusting. They make great hunting companions, also. |
|
Greyhound
Greyhounds are as fast as they are smart,
as wise as they are loving. Outdoors, it is a thrill to watch this
dog run at full stretch. Indoors, he becomes a quiet and dignified
family member, expecting hugs and petting from his family.

|
Irish
Setter
The
Irish Setter is a likable dog: friendly, loving, loyal, and protective.
He enjoys the company of children. In fact, he takes a while to
grow up himself. He's usually about three years old before he settles
into adulthood. He likes plenty of room to run, vigorous exercise,
and loving attention. |
|
Irish
Wolfhound
Despite
his size, this shaggy-coated sighthound has a peaceful and quiet
personality. He is affectionate and loves to be with people. He
makes a good pet because he is quiet indoors, after he has outgrown
his puppy years. In just six months, these puppies weigh about 100
pounds. They require a lot of food, space and exercise.
|
|
Labrador
Retriever
The beloved
Labrador Retriever is playful, loving to people and hardworking.
The Lab can be counted on as a true friend anytime, anyplace, and
is highly respected for his prowess at many jobs: as a guide dog
for the disabled, a search-and-rescue dog, and for narcotics detection.
|
|
Rottweiler
The Rottweiler is both a bold guardian and
an intelligent, steady friend. But he is rather aloof, owing to
his history as a hardworking drover and guardian. With his owner,
though, he aims to accompany and guard with all his heart. He loves
exercise and will thrill to the challenges of any outdoor sports
that include dog and owner. |
